The denim jeans that Strauss and Davis created were still far from iconic. It wasn’t until about 1890 that the jeans started getting signature additions, starting with the XX edition. The XX was similar to the current Levi’s 501 and even had the classic stitching lines. Later, the leather back patch (1896), a second rear pocket (1901), and belts loops (1922)  started transforming jeans from rugged work attire to a more fashionable product.
